Our goal is ambitious: improve people's quality of life.
To this end we apply our skills in the field of Biomedical Engineering to create simple but effective devices, useful to everyone and usable by many categories of people in order to improve their performance, solve small-large daily problems or find a solution by adopting an engineering approach to Medical Science and Rational Movement Science and Technique.
Improving the quality of life of people through engineered devices, simple to use and which offer excellent results that can be found in a short time.
Helping everyone to become the best version of themselves, from a performance, physical and mental point of view.
Biomedical Engineer specialized in Neuroengineering at the University of Genoa with a focus on Functional Biomechanics and Biological and Artificial Neurosciences. After years of work in Research on the biological effects of Electromagnetic Fields, he deepened his knowledge on Kinesiology and Science and Technique of Rational Movement. He then worked for years in clinical and hospital settings in close contact with people suffering from posture, Parkinson's and movement disorders. He has been a speaker at national and international Congresses on Engineering and Medicine several times. Passionate about Cinema and Culture of the 80s and 90s, he always takes inspiration for new professional adventures and new ideas.
Biomedical Engineer specialized in Rehabilitation Engineering at the University of Pisa. He has worked for several years in Biomedical Robotics, in particular in the field of Exoskeletons for Movement Assistance and Neurological Rehabilitation through Virtual Reality interfaces. After having explored the world of Company Certifications and CE Marking in the field of Medical Devices, he traveled to Europe interfacing with the largest University Centers of Neuro and Bioengineering and Rehabilitation Medicine Centers as Product Manager for Robots at the frontier of Technological innovation. Professionally interested in Artificial Consciousness and Software Applications for Cognitive Rehabilitation. Always an eclectic spirit, his interests range from Literature, Theater, and Magic Art... the only way to escape from reality by arousing the emotion for what, apparently, is impossible.
MuSclE - Medical & Sport Engineering Ltd was founded in Tuscany in January 2022 by Luca Valerio Messa and Enrico Matteo Messa, two brothers - both Biomedical Engineers - with a strong desire to get involved and a particular passion for Functional Biomechanics, Medical Sciences, Sport and Technological Innovation.
However, the story of their brand, "MUSCLE" begins much earlier: in 2008 the two brothers, still university students, realise the importance of a correct distribution of the vectors of forces even in the simplest movements, especially in physical exercise. After some analysis, paper projects and rudimentary tests, they built the first prototype of their invention: Angel's Wings.
The first EMG evaluations and the opinions of Clinicians and Sports Professionals are absolutely positive and surprising and they start asking themselves the first questions about the medical correlations of their method. Deepening their studies and their profession, a concept that is the core of all their activity becomes more and more evident: to innovate, it is necessary to start from the problems and not from the solutions.
In 2013 the Patent for Invention is recognized and they start the scientific Studies that are published on international Journals: one of the first works is carried out in collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari and its Medical Partner, Med-Ex, and involves workers, Pit-stop Technicians and Formula 1 Drivers.
After having aroused the interest of the Italian Swimming Federation, which still uses this approach in the "dry" training circuits of Olympic Champions such as Gregorio Paltrinieri, the great satisfaction arrives in 2019 when the results of a clinical study lasting 5 years and carried out at the University Hospital of Siena, which analyzes the effects of the Angel's Wings Method on people with Parkinson's disease, are published. Once again, it was a question that started it all: "how could the motor and postural problems that afflict those suffering from this disease be solved?".
The results are extremely positive, but there is more. Since the end of 2019 Enrico Matteo and Luca Valerio, who are now Professionals with a cultural and academic background combined with practice and experience, begin to want to propose their approach in a broader way: for almost every problem there is a solution, and many problems can be addressed with an "athletic" approach, just as it has been demonstrated during the work done with people with Parkinson's disease. They also decided to transmit the knowledge learned over the years and their methodological approach in a book, "The Parkinsonian Athlete - Thoughts, ideas and practical advice on the concept of 'Functional Biomechanics' in Parkinson's disease".
Many people, sportsmen and women, young and old, with postural problems or not, begin to clamor to be able to train with this simple but extraordinarily effective device, to be able to deepen this approach so exciting according to which, as it is demonstrated, even at 100 years old you can increase your physical and mental performance with targeted training and with the determination of a true athlete.
At the end of 2021 Enrico Matteo and Luca Valerio realized they wanted to develop other ideas, to have an innovative methodological approach, to be willing to spread their method acting as protagonists of their own future and change: MuSclE - Medical & Sport Engineering was born. MuSclE - Medical & Sport Engineering is a company in the field of Biomedical Engineering, Technology, Sport and Innovation that intends to develop devices, products and solutions useful to everyone and usable by many categories of people in order to improve their performance, solve small-large daily problems or find new ways by adopting an engineering approach to Medical Science and Science and Technique of Rational Movement.
Bettering yourself, one exercise at a time.
A technical-scientific essay, now in its second expanded and updated edition, in which we wanted to describe what we have learned and observed in years of practice of our profession.
This is a text that is aimed not only at those directly involved, but also to family members, caregivers, professionals and curious people who want to explore a new type of approach to a widespread disease.
In addition to the chapters that guide the reader with clear language and which address topics of Neurophysiopathology, Physics applied to the Human Body, Physical Exercises, Psychological Approach to the disease...
What's new?
• Practical solutions on exercises and motor strategies that can also be implemented at home
• Biomechanics of expression
• Voice and vocal exercises for Parkinsonians
• State of the Art of the “Angel's Wings” device
• Insights into the Neuroanatomy of Cognitive Functions
• A historical excursus to better understand the fundamental importance of "coded on the disease" physical activity
• True stories of patients met over the years and who have benefited from the method proposed by the "Parkinsonian Athlete"
Who is this Book for?
• People with Parkinson's and their families: Simple keys to understanding and concrete solutions to improve the quality of life of people with Parkinson's.
• Experts in the field: New visions of approach to Parkinson's disease.
"Working on our weaknesses as Parkinsonians means accepting the challenge with the limitations imposed by the disease, but first and foremost with ourselves, to improve our performance every day".
Just like any athlete.
